Two Cereus Progression

Working on an oil on canvas in the glazing style. Currently establishing the underpainting of lights and darks, to be followed by glazes of color. The Old Masters style of glowing light is interesting to explore with a subject such as Night Blooming Cereus which always seem to have a glowing aspect all on their own.

Grand Canyon - In Progress

North Rim in progress

I am working on a prismacolor pencil drawing of a view of the Grand Canyon from the North Rim. The shape of the drawing is unusual for me; I am making it in a shape which emphasizes the horizon. I have avoided trying to capture the canyon in artwork up to this point. But I felt it was calling me do my interpretation of the beauty of one of the many aspects of light on the rocks there.
